Cherry blossoms at the Pigeon steps

Description
A hike from Astoria’s downtown district up 11th Street to Irving Avenue sits a lone cherry tree. Its broad canopy shades the entrance to 11th Street’s Pigeon steps — a steep, pedestrian-only staircase that deposits walkers onto Jerome Avenue. The platform at Jerome Avenue affords the hearty hiker a view straight to downtown, across the Columbia River and into Washington.
